Career

O Fenômeno combined sprinter's pace with the technique of a playmaker, and was a world-class forward at seventeen. Two catastrophic knee injuries removed his explosiveness in the middle of his career; he responded by remaking himself as a pure finisher and winning the 2002 World Cup with eight goals, including both in the final.
